- Refusing to list any registration-based contests which do not have both a clear email opt-out and a link to a privacy policy on entry forms
- Periodically registering for contests under secret PRIZEY addresses to ferret out sources of spam, and adding any guilty parties to a PRIZEY blacklist
- Avoiding sketchy and skeevy-looking contests like the plague
