Goodbye PRIZEY Calendar, Hello IE "Ending Today" Button!

When we quietly stopped updating the PRIZEY deadline calendar a week or two ago and removed it from the PRIZEY home page, we wondered what the response would be. Our quick reader survey, which ran from Friday through Monday, told us in no uncertain terms.

But our survey also pointed out a related issue we needed to fix pronto: Our "Ending Today" button, which serves a similar purpose to the calendar, didn't work in Internet Explorer. Now we have a fix: Next to the "Ending Today" alarm clock you'll now see tiny Firefox and Internet Explorer logos. If you're using IE, click on the little Internet Explorer icon and you can now see all PRIZEY-listed giveaways that end sometime today.

The Firefox logo and the alarm clock itself both use the original script, and work as before, and, in fact, the current version of Firefox understands both versions.

If you're using another browser, and neither version works for you, we'd appreciate a note at prizeyblog (at) gmail (dot) com, but be aware that we probably won't be writing any more scripts for this. Our guess is that IE is the anomaly and most other browsers will like the same script Firefox does.

If you're one of those folks who likes to browse the internet with Javascript turned off, there isn't much we can do for you. The buttons work by dynamically generating a search string and need Javascript to do it.

So, to summarize:
  1. PRIZEY's Google Calendar is gone. If we ever find a way to automate calendar listings and link them to our posts, it may come back. But this isn't a high priority because
  2. We encourage everyone (especially those of you who are so mad you could spit) to try our lovely Ending Today button - we'd recommend it as your first stop, especially if you're visiting PRIZEY sometime in the a.m., so you don't miss out on great giveaways you could be entering!
