New features: A few more goodies from PRIZEY

At the bottom of each post you'll now find:

Email listing link: You can send listings to your friends by clicking on the cute little envelope icon at the foot of each post.
Rate the giveaway: This one's a maybe - we're testing it out to see if you'll use it, so if you like it, share your opinions of posts with one click! Our ultimate goal for a feature like this would be to be able to filter top-rated giveaways so you PRIZEY readers could see what giveaways other PRIZEY readers liked most. Start rating if you'd like this feature to persist.
We're also now supporting:
International giveaways: We've established a "U.S.+" category for giveaways open to people in any other countries, usually Canada. We'll hold off on a button until the category gets busier but for now international readers can subscribe to a special PRIZEY International feed that will send them only "U.S.+" listings.
Opening comments... anything else we should think about?

Hi...This might have already been done, but I would love it differentiated which giveaways are for bloggers only with a Google account. I do not have such an account so sometimes I spend my time answering the questions and entering only to discover I can't! That is my only frustrating issue! Thanks for the site! I am hooked! stbaisch[at]yahoo[dot]com

Good point. Some bloggers restrict comments in this way to keep down spam, but Blogger supports OpenID now, so they should at least open up to allow that.

I'm guessing that those who haven't simply don't know about it or haven't bothered to change their settings. We'll see what we can do to get more participation in the program so more folks can get in on everyone's giveaways.

Yes, please... I'd love a button on each listing to contact you if the link is messed up, or if there's a reason the contest shouldn't be on Prizey (i.e., fine print that indicates they're adding entrants to a mailing list or something). It's a little frustrating when I want to report a dead link or other problem and there's no way to comment.

P.S. Those Elmo teeth are... are... I have to avert my eyes!

P.P.S. Very likely just me, but I feel like ratings on giveaways are a little mean. I'd hate to be the blogger or company giving something away and finding out my giveaway got only 1 or 2 stars... wouldn't want to discourage anyone.

@Jenna: Both good points. I think we could accomplish the former by having a general link somewhere prominent to report a listing error or problem, as I don't know of a way to integrate "flagging" into Blogger.

As for the ratings, my assumption going in was that PRIZEY readers would err on the side of support, given that these things are being offered up for free, and, being on PRIZEY, with no strings attached. One potential benefit of ratings is that in theory at least we can group reader "favorites" in its own listing category, which offers a much more democratic take on what giveaways are worth looking at than our Picks system - each has its merits, and it would be nice to have both voices on the blog. We don't yet have the technical means to do that, but it is what we have an eye towards developing in some form, although this may not prove to be the perfect incarnation of it.

And you're right - if readers go about skewering the efforts of emerging giveaway hosts there is the chance for it to feel out of place on a blog that otherwise tries to foster a supportive atmosphere. We'll take a wait-and-see approach for a bit to see how much interest there appears to be, and other readers are welcome to weigh in on this topic as well!

Tee-hee... you made my comment famous! Thanks!

I feel like I should go put on lipstick or something, what with all these people staring at me now.

By the way, those teeth are still... they're... I can't stop looking at them! Someone stop me!

I like the "e-mail listing" feature, but I agree with Jenna that the "rate the giveaway" feature is "a little mean."

It's also very vague. What exactly is being rated...the prize item, the sponsoring company, the blog, the blogger, etc...? My vote is to kiss the rating system good-bye. It doesn't appear to benefit the contest entrants or the contest sponsors.

Thanks for continually striving to improve Prizey! It's such a fun site! I come back every day to check out the new listings...
